Our hearts go out to those affected by the recent devastating natural disasters. We are proud that we have been working closely with the Red Cross to provide assistance and response where it is needed. Southwest Airlines is committed to supporting organizations like the Red Cross that focus on disaster preparedness and response. As a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program we ensure the Red Cross can be on the scene of a disaster at a moment's notice. When disasters like the recent tornadoes, wildfires and flooding occur the Red Cross is there to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to people in need. We are proud to stand beside the Red Cross as they help those affected by disaster.

On May 2, 2011 AirTran Airways became a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways do not currently operate as one airline, however they do serve some common cities. In those cities, if your submission is approved, your organization will receive Southwest Airlines tickets rather than AirTran Airways tickets. Submissions from cities served only by AirTran Airways will receive AirTran Airways certificates. Southwest Airlines tickets are valid only on Southwest-operated, published, scheduled service within the continental United States. AirTran Airways certificates are valid only on AirTran-operated flights within the continental United States. Tickets and certificates may not be used for travel on itineraries that combine flights with other carriers.

Welcome to the Southwest Airlines Charitable Giving online request page. Southwest Airlines is committed to giving back to the communities where our Customers and Employees live and work through our support of qualified 501(c)(3) organizations and programs focused on the following areas of support:

  • Organizations that aid Families Facing Serious Illnesses
  • Programs and organizations that provide support for our Military and their Families when separated by duty
  • Organizations that assist in Disaster Preparedness and Response
  • Programs that foster action and create ideas to benefit our planet

Please review our guidelines to make sure your request fits within our parameters. If so, simply create an account in order to input and submit your donation request. We require that a copy of your organization's 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS be uploaded in a pdf format for consideration. A sample IRS determination letter can be found here. This information assists us in making the best evaluation of your proposal. You also have the ability to add images and an attachment within the application. Note: We no longer accept requests sent by mail, fax or e-mail.

Southwest Airlines receives thousands of requests each month; because of this volume, we regret that we cannot respond immediately. You will receive an automatic response upon submitting your proposal so that you know that we have received it. If you do not receive this within 24 hours, please check that you completed the request and hit the submit button. We will respond at least 30 days prior to your event. Please ensure that your organization only submits one request per event (per calendar year).
